This week, Aerolíneas Argentinas officially confirmed its new Airbus A330-200 commercial operations from Aeroparque. Starting from August 7, it will offer flights to Miami and New York in the United States, as well as three popular domestic destinations: Puerto Iguazú, El Calafate, and Ushuaia.
The goal of these long-haul international flights from Aeroparque is to provide passengers with more convenient connection options, reducing the need for airport transfers for those arriving or departing from Ezeiza. The schedules for the five routes will enable swift connections with other domestic destinations in the Aerolíneas Argentinas network and with destinations in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay operated from Aeroparque.
Significant infrastructure changes at Aeroparque were required to accommodate large aircraft operations, including the extension of the runway to 2,690 meters in length and 45 meters in width, which incorporated enhanced maximum takeoff and landing (MTOW) load capacity as well as a new taxiway on the south side. Additionally, the expansion of the northern platform is in progress, which will include two spots for large aircraft and four positions for class C aircraft like the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
Yet, there are challenges associated with Aeroparque’s current infrastructure, such as the positioning of runway head 13, which requires planes to taxi along the runway for landing and taking off, and limitations of taxiway alpha. However, the southern section of Aeroparque can accommodate the A330.

Intense Competition to the United States
Interestingly, competition to the United States is also intensifying as other American airlines have announced new frequencies and routes to Buenos Aires. Aerolíneas Argentinas’ strategy of operating from Aeroparque will provide competitive advantages due to the available connection options.
