Turkish Airlines continues to expand its intercontinental operations with a new non-stop service between Istanbul and Detroit for this northern winter season. With this new route the airline will operate 13 destinations in the United States, as also plans to fly to Denver in the near future.
Turkish Airlines and ITA Airways Sign Codeshare Agreement
Turkish Airlines will be the third non-Skyteam alliance member to offer long-haul service at Metropolitan Wayne County Airport: currently Lufthansa and Royal Air Maroc offer non-stop flights from Frankfurt and Amman respectively.
Detroit is the third U.S. destination launched by Turkish Airlines in the last two years, in September 2021 the carrier began nonstop flights to Dallas/Fort Worth and in May 2022 started direct service to Seattle – Tacoma.

Route details
- Effective December 30, 2023, service increases to four times per week, with an additional flight on Saturdays.
The route will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 300 passengers (30 Business Class/270 Economy) and promotional fares are available from USD 400 each way.
In order to continue expanding its network, Turkish Airlines plans to place a mega order for 600 aircraft between Boeing and Airbus. It also initiated its codeshare partnership with IndiGo, providing customers with greater travel options between India and the United States.
