On June 16 VietJet Air launched the first non-stop flight between Vietnam and Queensland with service between Ho Chi Minh City and Brisbane. This new route will enhance trade, tourism, education and social ties between the two regions.
Korean Air resumes non-stop flights to Brisbane
Flight VJ 83 boarded 377 passengers with a 100% occupancy factor and was operated on an Airbus A330 registered as VN-A810. The aircraft departed Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) at 11:01 local time and arrived at Brisbane Airport (BNE) at 21:38, after seven hours and 37 minutes.

The new route will provide 39,000 seats annually to Brisbane. The additional tourists will provide 370 jobs in Queensland and increase spending by overnight visitors by nearly $30 million a year across the state.
This non-stop connection is another benefit of the $200 million Queensland Aviation Attraction Investment Fund, jointly funded by the Queensland Government and the State’s international airports, and aims to streamline the recovery of Queensland’s visitor economy.
This new route will boost cargo capacity between Brisbane and Vietnam benefiting Queensland exporters. Currently, Queensland ships $20 million worth of products to Vietnam, including meat, leather producer, vegetables and pharmaceuticals. A non-stop service will allow this figure to increase.

VietJet’s flight schedule to Brisbane
- Ho Chi Minh City – Brisbane Flight VJ 83 SGN 10:50 – BNE 21:55 Monday and Friday.
- Brisbane – Ho Chi Minh City Flight VJ 84 BNE 23:30 – SGN 05:10+1 Monday and Friday.
The route is operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a capacity of 377 passengers in two classes (12 Business Plus/365 Economy). Passengers from Vietnam flying to Brisbane have the option of connecting to 52 destinations in Australia, 30 of them in Queensland.
In addition to operations to Brisbane, VietJet Air also offers non-stop flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney and Melbourne, both routes are scheduled three flights a week. The airline offers 6,032 seats per week between Vietnam and Australia.
