As part of the Patriot Fury exercise, four A-10 Thunderbolt II (also known as «Warthog»), from the U.S. Air Force Reserve based at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, were deployed to Chiclayo Air Base, from where they will perform missions alongside the Su-25 and KT-1P of the Peruvian Air Force.

The Patriot Fury exercise is one of the many activities framed within the large Exercise Resolute Sentinel 23, hosted by Peru and also involving delegations from the Armed Forces of the U.S., Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, Panama and the United Kingdom.

Organized by the U.S. Air Force Southern Command, the exercise seeks to improve interoperability with the Armed Forces of Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Patriot Fury is an integration exercise aimed at developing combined operations and information exchange, as well as perfecting Technical Tactics and Procedures (TTP’s) in Close Air Support (CAP) operations, between USAF A-10 «Warthog» and FAP Su-25 «Frogfoot» and KT-1P «Torito» personnel.

The participation of the A-10 in these exercises in Peru became a historical milestone, as the «Warthogs» had only been deployed before in South America in 1992, during exercises with the F-16A and OV-10A/E of the Venezuelan Air Force.
