American Airlines Expands Mexican Operations: New Non-Stop Service to Tijuana & Enhanced Phoenix-Guadalajara Route

American Airlines is extending its reach into Mexico from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, with a new non-stop service to Tijuana starting on February 15, 2024. This marks the airline’s 26th destination in Mexico and the 12th direct connection to Mexico from Phoenix.

American Airlines bolsters its operations at Phoenix Sky Harbor

In addition, the airline has announced a new domestic route to Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco, Washington (PSC). Overall, American’s winter schedule will offer over 260 daily flights to 100 destinations, thereby enhancing travel options for leisure and business customers.

American Airlines is also set to enhance the Phoenix-Guadalajara route by doubling its service to two flights a day. This extended schedule from Phoenix allows for a streamlined network that conveniently connects customers from Pasco, Tijuana, and Guadalajara to a larger global network, whilst also increasing travel options for local residents planning winter vacations.

«The excitement mounts as we provide not just new direct services, but also a wide array of opportunities for tens of thousands of customers who connect via the airport on American Airlines each day,» stated Sophia Philis-Ortiz, Vice President of Hub Operations at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

The newly announced flights from Phoenix Sky Harbor add to nearly 30 additional daily flights incorporated into the winter schedule in June, marking American’s largest schedule in almost a decade. Moreover, the carrier will provide the only international service at Tijuana Airport.

«The direct, non-stop flight to Tijuana, Mexico bolsters Phoenix’s status as a major hub and one of Mexico’s largest air travel markets. This new connection is set to invigorate our tourism industry, bolster businesses, and create more employment opportunities for Phoenix residents,» commented Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego.
