BermudAir: New Boutique Airline Targets US Premium Market with Luxury Flights

BermudAir, a new boutique airline based in Bermuda, has received approval from the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) to receive its Air Operator Certificate (AOC). With a strategic focus on targeting the premium market in the United States, the airline plans to operate regular and charter flights between Bermuda and the eastern coast of the US.

“We’re grateful that BermudAir’s work to establish a world-class airline in Bermuda has been validated through the rigorous AOC assessment process,” said Adam Scott, BermudAir’s CEO.

“This is a significant milestone for our team towards the full launch of the airline and being able to serve this market. Both the BCAA team and BermudAir’s team have dedicated many hours to reach this point, and we appreciate everyone’s commitment throughout the process,» Scott concluded.

Obtaining US approval and first destinations

In June, BermudAir secured a leasing agreement with Azorra Aviation to incorporate two Embraer E175 aircraft. These aircraft, with manufacturing numbers (MSN) 17000351 and 17000344, are 11 years old and currently located at Muskoka Airport (YQA), Ontario, Canada. Skyservice will conduct the preparations for aircraft delivery.

A noteworthy aspect of BermudAir’s plan is the reconfiguration of these aircraft cabins, moving from the original 88 seats configured by Flybe to an exclusive executive class cabin with 30 seats. This strategy aligns with the goal of targeting the premium market in the United States and leveraging Bermuda’s tourist appeal.

The airline’s application for approval by the US Department of Transportation (US DoT) is now the next step towards the launch and ability to fly between Bermuda and the eastern coast of the United States.

BermudAir’s strategy focuses on capturing the premium market in the United States, leveraging the tourist appeal of Bermuda. Bermuda’s premium market is one of the island’s main sources of revenue.

BermudAir plans to initially establish up to twelve weekly flights from Bermuda to Boston (BOS), Massachusetts, and Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Florida. It will also offer six weekly flights to White Plains (HPN), New York. The operation of charter flights within the United States has also been requested.
