BoA Launches First Regular Flight to Miami with New Airbus A330-200

After having completed the familiarization and certification stage, Boliviana de Aviación has scheduled the first regular flight to Miami with its new Airbus A330-200 for this Sunday, July 23.

The aircraft, which were received this year, will allow the company to take a significant leap in modernity in its service to Miami, given that up until now, they are still operating with Boeing 767-300s which are on average 28 years old.

However, even though the 767s lack onboard entertainment options or full-flat seats in Business, they still have a seat configuration from the 80s and 90s that was more comfortable for passengers, making flying them certainly a retro experience, as we were able to verify last year and recorded in this report:

BoA’s A330-200s have a configuration of 20 seats in business class and 255 in economy, totaling 275 seats, versus the 225 seats of the Boeing 767-300.

The first plane, registered as CP-3209, arrived in Bolivia on April 26, while the second, registered as CP-3208, arrived on May 3. There are still two more to be received as part of the order made last year. The CP-3208 has been operating regular flights to Buenos Aires and São Paulo during June and July.

Through its hub at the Viru Viru Airport in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, BoA offers quite convenient price options for those flying from São Paulo and Buenos Aires to Miami or Madrid. While this meant giving up «modernity» when flying with the 767s, the switch to the A330s will make BoA even more competitive.
