British low-cost carrier (LCC) easyJet will fly between its base in Naples, Italy, and the airport of Las Palmas, which serves the island of Gran Canaria. The new connection was confirmed by this weekend’s schedule updates in Cirium’s Diio Mi application.
Flights will start on October 29. Using a Naples-based Airbus A320, with 186 seats in a single-class configuration, the flight will leave the Italian city late in the morning, returning to the base in the late afternoon.
The operation will be flown once weekly, with a frequency every Sunday. The flight is already on sale in easyJet’s channels, with fares in the Naples-Gran Canaria direction starting at EUR43 one-way.
While the last flight currently on sale departs on March 24, 2024, the schedule that was loaded on Cirium’s database also includes an extension of the route into the Summer 2024 season.
easyJet and other LCCs’ bases in Naples
By a small margin, easyJet is the second-largest airline in Naples, measured by departures, seats offered and ASKs, according to Cirium. Currently, it has six Airbus A320 stationed in Capodichino International Airport, with one A319, configured with 156 seats, also based there. For Winter, as per the latest schedule, the LCC will have three A320 and two A319 based in Naples.
This will be easyJet’s sole connection from Naples to the Canary Islands. The Italian metropolis is also connected to the Spanish archipelago with year-round flights by Ryanair — which also has a base in the city — to Tenerife South. This flight operates twice a week during the Summer, with the frequency growing to four weekly in the Winter.
Two other low-cost carriers have a base in Naples: Hungary’s Wizz Air, with two Airbus A321neos configured for 239 passengers, and Spain’s Volotea, with two Airbus A320 with 180 seats. Ryanair, meanwhile, has three Boeing 737-800, with 189 seats, stationed in the airport.
