LATAM announced the resumption of its flights between Lima, Peru, and Havana, Cuba, after a three-and-a-half-year suspension due to the COVID-19 crisis. The airline plans to start operations on October 29, offering four weekly flights with the possibility of connecting to other destinations in the LATAM Group network.
LATAM will use its Airbus A319 and Airbus A320ceo/neo aircraft on this route. The Airbus A319 will be configured to accommodate 138 passengers, with 12 seats in Premium Economy Class and 126 seats in Economy Class. On the other hand, the Airbus A320ceo/neo has a capacity of 174 passengers, with 12 seats in Premium Economy Class and 162 seats in Economy Class.
This will be the third destination that LATAM Peru will resume during the second half of 2023. The airline will also reestablish flights to Foz do Iguacu (IGU), Brazil, on October 29, and to Salta (SLA), Argentina, on December 1.
LATAM’s commitment to reconnecting the region extends beyond Lima and Havana. The airline will add another three destinations to its network, with flights to Atlanta, United States, starting October 29, followed by Aruba on December 1 and Caracas, Venezuela, on August 1.

- Lima – Havana flight LA 2410 LIM 09:15 – 14:45 HAV / Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Havana – Lima flight LA 2411 HAV 16:15 – 21:40 LIM / Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
With four weekly flights, LATAM will offer a total of 1,332 seats per week on this route. In addition, flight connections offered by LATAM in Cuba provide immediate access to other important South American cities, including Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Córdoba in Argentina, Santiago in Chile, Montevideo in Uruguay, and São Paulo in Brazil.
According to data obtained from the Civil Aeronautics Directorate of Peru (DGAC), the Lima-Havana route transported over 160,000 passengers with LATAM Peru and Avianca Peru in 2019.
Four airlines directly connect Cuba with South America
Gradually, Cuba is recovering its flights to South America, although in this post-pandemic stage it adds new airlines and destinations, among them are:
- Aerolíneas Argentinas; a weekly flight to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Argentina; with Airbus A330-200.
- ConViasa; four weekly flights to Caracas (CCS), Venezuela; with Embraer 190.
- Cubana de Aviación; a weekly flight to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Argentina; with Airbus A340-300 operated by Plus Ultra Airlines.
- Wingo; five weekly flights to Bogotá (BOG), Colombia; with Boeing 737-800.
- Wingo; two weekly flights to Medellín/Rio Negro (MDE), Colombia; with Boeing 737-800.
