Panama: Copa Airlines Welcomes its 25th Boeing 737 MAX

Flagship Panamanian carrier Copa Airlines has received its 25th Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, registered under HP-9925CMP. This new addition is one of the six Boeing 737 MAX 9 variant units set to join the company’s fleet this year.

The Boeing 737 MAX 9s in Copa’s fleet offer two seating configurations, accommodating 166 and 174 passengers. Since 2021, the airline has equipped these aircraft with the new Dreams Business Class, boasting 16 lie-flat seats, 16-inch touchscreen displays with remote controls, extensive in-flight entertainment, AC and USB power ports, and ample storage for personal items.

Additionally, the Economy Extra section located in the aircraft’s front aisles offers 24 seats providing extra legroom, individual 10-inch touchscreen displays with USB ports, and AC power connectors.

All passengers can enjoy Copa’s wireless entertainment system, Copa Showpass, accessible from laptops or mobile devices, offering options to watch TV series, movies, documentaries, read magazines, and listen to music.

More Boeing 737 MAX Aircrafts for Copa Airlines

In April, Copa Airlines unveiled its short and medium-term growth plans, including the addition of 64 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft over the next five years.

The announcement revealed an order to add 15 more 737 MAX units. This raises their order to 36 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9 aircraft, though without specifying the quantity of each variant, which will replace the Boeing 737 Next Generation. According to Boeing’s order list, Copa also expects 15 737 MAX 10 aircraft.

The current Copa fleet consists of 58 Boeing 737-800, 25 B737 MAX 9, 9 B737-700, and one B737-800 cargo aircraft.

Boeing 737 MAX Destinations

As for the destinations the Boeing 737 MAX serves, according to data from the Cirium platform, Copa connects 19 destinations from Panama/Tocumen to: São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) and Rio de Janeiro/Galeao (GIG), Brazil; Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), and San Francisco (SFO) USA; Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Argentina; Montevideo (MVD), Uruguay; Quito (UIO) and Guayaquil (GYE), Ecuador; Bogotá (BOG), Colombia; Havana (HAV), Cuba; San José (SJO), Costa Rica; Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo/Las Américas (SDQ), Dominican Republic; and Santiago (SCL), Chile; Cancún (CUN), Mexico; and Lima (LIM), Peru.

Among the aforementioned destinations, São Paulo receives five daily flights; while Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Los Angeles, Miami, and Bogotá receive up to three flights per day.
