Post Trademark Settlement with Easyjet, Easyfly Takes to Skies as Clic

Just two weeks after Easyfly announced its renaming as Clic, the first airplane bearing this name and the new livery was spotted in the Colombian skies this Sunday.

The aircraft, a ATR 72-600 registration HK-5347, operated flight VE932 today, departing from Bogotá at 12:28 towards San José del Guaviare. It then returned to El Dorado Airport to operate another flight to Manizales.

This very morning, Easyfly had posted on its social networks a photo of a worker applying the livery on an ATR, stating «2/20». This was a reference to it being the second aircraft of the 20 that will bear the Clic brand. They are also undertaking a campaign. Their fleet consists of 14 ATR 42s and 6 ATR 42s with an average age of 5.9 years.

Easyfly’s renaming follows an agreement reached with Easygroup, the parent company of the European low-cost airline Easyjet. This came after a legal dispute over brand name similarities initiated in 2019 and concluded in 2020. The Colombian airline had expressed when announcing the change two weeks ago, «this is an opportunity for us to be reborn, showing our purpose as a company and the unique value of the services we offer.»

Easyfly also highlighted the positive results achieved during the first half of 2023 and the successful restructuring process that allowed the repayment of over 72 billion Colombian pesos to its creditors (~USD 16 million).

In 2022, Easyfly transported 1.92 million passengers, a figure 35% higher than that of 2021, solidifying its position as the fourth most important airline in Colombia.

The company is currently undergoing an expansion process, partially encompassing routes previously operated by the now-defunct Viva and Ultra Air.

Last week, it submitted a new application to Aerocivil for three new routes connecting Medellín/Olaya Herrera (EOH) with Cartagena (CTG), Barranquilla (BAQ), and Santa Marta (SMR). These destinations were among the most important in Viva’s network, which used to operate between 3 and 9 daily flights from Medellín. In addition, Ultra Air used to connect these coastal cities with 2 to 3 daily flights.
