American Airlines is expanding its transatlantic network for the 2024 summer season with four new routes and resumption of one service as part of the airline’s European expansion from 2019. The airline will add new services from Philadelphia, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth to France, Denmark, Spain and Italy.
«American is thrilled to add three new European destinations. The new service from Philadelphia and expanded transatlantic service from Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth will offer customers convenient one-stop access from more than 200 unique destinations across the U.S. to Europe next summer,» said Brian Znotins, American’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Scheduling.
Philadelphia Transatlantic Expansion
American will schedule 15 daily nonstop flights from Philadelphia to 14 European destinations by summer 2024, its largest transatlantic schedule from the City of Brotherly Love since 2019. The airline’s domestic network from Philadelphia offers 70 destinations and provides customers with a convenient, one-stop way to fly to Europe.
New Philadelphia services
- Copenhagen: daily flights operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner beginning June 6, 2024.
- Naples: daily flights operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner starting June 5, 2024.
- Nice: daily flights operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner starting May 6, 2024.
Increased cross-Atlantic connectivity
American will begin a new nonstop connection between Dallas/Fort Worth and Barcelona by next year, this service is the fifth route offered by the airline between the Catalan capital and the United States and consolidates American as the largest U.S. airline operator at El Prat Airport.
American will also resume its nonstop flights between Chicago O’Hare and Venice, which is complemented by service from Philadelphia. The additional flight from Chicago will allow customers greater schedule flexibility and connect to more than 100 domestic destinations, including more cities in the Midwest.
American is also expanding year-round service on several key transatlantic routes, including Lisbon, Madrid and Rome providing customers with better planning for their European vacations in 2024.

- Dallas/Fort Worth – Barcelona: begins June 5, 2024 with daily flights operated on Boeing 777-200ERs.
- Chicago O’Hare – Venice: resumes June 5, 2024 with daily flights operated on Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

- Chicago O’Hare – Athens: begins May 6, 2024, service is operated on Boeing 787-9s.
- Charlotte – Dublin: begins March 5, 2024, service is operated on Boeing 777-200ER.
- New York – Athens: begins March 31, 2024, service is operated on Boeing 777-200ER.
- Philadelphia – Venice: begins April 4, 2024, service is operated on Boeing 787-8.
