In the early hours of Wednesday, August 30, Ukrainian forces launched a massive drone attack on Russian territory, affecting at least six Russian cities, including Pskov, almost 600 km from the Ukrainian border. The target in that locality was the civilian/military airport, where Ukrainian kamikaze drones managed to hit several Il-76 cargo planes, damaging 4 of them, two of which caught fire.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the kamikaze drone attacks were «massive» and assured that President Putin is permanently informed:

«The supreme commander-in-chief constantly and promptly receives all information both within the framework of the special military operation itself and around the operation and, of course, regarding these massive attacks, the information is brought to the attention of the supreme commander,» Peskov said.

A Telegram information channel with links to the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that attack and provided several interesting facts.

Apparently, 21 suicide drones were reportedly launched against the Pskov civilian/military airport, and although most of the drones were shot down, some of them managed to reach their targets. Four Il-76 military transport aircraft were hit and two of them were set on fire, so it is likely that these units cannot be repaired and must be considered as total losses.

Kiev has not claimed responsibility for the suicide drone attack for now, but will likely do so at a later date.
