Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) will undergo a significant expansion of its international network in October, inaugurating three new destinations: Asunción in Paraguay, Caracas, and Havana.

This was announced during an event on Wednesday night by the General Manager of BoA, Ronald Casso, who detailed that the inaugural flight to Asunción is scheduled for October 19th, while the flight to Havana will be on October 26th, and to Caracas on the 31st. He did not provide frequency details except for the Cuban capital, which will initially have a weekly flight available in seven-day packages.

I want to emphasize that we are working closely with the vice-ministry of Tourism because there are several challenges that we must face in order to recover the economy and restore tourism,” said Casso. “When thinking about tourism, it’s not just a trip, you have to think about logistics, documentation, border limits, and so on. There’s a series of issues that we need to address and tackle,” he added.

The executive also reviewed how there’s still a need to recover traffic in some domestic destinations like Uyuni, but he also highlighted Tarija as a success story where they have grown significantly.

Furthermore, he thanked the Paraguayan, Venezuelan, and Cuban authorities for all the support provided to move forward with the authorization of BoA flights to their respective capitals.

The international network of Boliviana de Aviación is composed as follows:

  • Cochabamba – Buenos Aires: two weekly flights.

This year, the company took a qualitative leap in its wide-body fleet by incorporating two Airbus A330-200s out of four orders that will replace its nearly 30-year-old average Boeing 767-300s.

Through its hub at the Viru Viru airport in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, BoA offers very convenient price options for those flying from Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires to Miami or Madrid.

Hangar in Cochabamba

Ronald Casso also added that, in October, in addition to inaugurating three international routes, BoA will complete the construction of its main hangar at the Jorge Wilstermann International Airport in Cochabamba, in which 51 million bolivianos (~ USD 7.3 million) were invested.

This facility will allow for repairs to its Boeing 737 NG and CRJ fleet, as well as offer services to third parties.
