CAE and Air Europa Extend Training Partnership in Madrid

In a collaborative move to amplify pilot and cabin crew training, CAE and Air Europa have furthered their partnership with a long-term agreement centered in Madrid, Spain.

Under this agreement, CAE will launch a B737NG full-flight simulator (FFS) at its Madrid training facility in October 2023. The introduction of the CAE 7000 XR-Series Level D FFS is expected to augment the training experience for pilots and facilitate the expansion plans of both Air Europa and Air Europa Express.

Air Europa’s Chief Operating Officer, John Baiget, commented on the renewal of their partnership with CAE, emphasizing the role of consistent training in the company’s operational strategy. «The continuous training of our professionals is a key part of Air Europa’s operational strategy. Doing so with CAE’s solutions and resources has been a guarantee of efficiency and good service for years, and we are pleased to be able to renew that trust, especially now that we have completed our fleet unification process around the Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 787 models,» Baiget noted.

Equipped with modern B737NG FFS and new cabin safety tools, the CAE Madrid centre aims to centralize vital training capacities for Air Europa, thus reinforcing the bond between the two entities. Michel Azar-Hmouda, CAE’s Vice President of Global Commercial Aviation Training, remarked on the enhancement and centralization of the essential training capacities, assuring a steady influx of well-trained personnel to support the growing operations of Air Europa. “With the deployment of a state-of-the-art B737NG FFS and new cabin safety equipment at CAE Madrid, we are adding and centralizing essential pilot training and cabin crew capacity for Air Europa and strengthening our relationship with a longtime partner,» said Azar-Hmouda.

The training collaboration between CAE and Air Europa has been in existence since 2010, and extended to include Air Europa Express in 2015. Currently, over 800 pilots from Air Europa and Air Europa Express alongside 2,000 cabin crew members receive annual training at two prominent centres – one situated in Madrid and the other at the CAE Palma De Mallorca – Air Europa Training Centre.

Apart from serving as the new training base for Air Europa’s cabin crew, CAE Madrid is a comprehensive commercial aviation training hub, offering a plethora of airline pilot, cabin crew, and Ab Initio training solutions. Once the new B737NG simulator becomes operational, the facility will boast a total of 12 FFSs, catering to various aircraft including Airbus, ATR, Boeing, Bombardier, and De Havilland, and will be equipped to offer cabin crew safety training.
