Lufthansa is expanding its Midwest offering with new nonstop service between Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and its main hub in Frankfurt, Germany. With the start of operations for the 2024 summer season, the German airline will become the 18th carrier to operate at MSP and the airport’s first new transatlantic carrier in more than four years.

It’s exciting to see this new service that will support increased year-round demand for air travel from Minnesota and the upper Midwest to Europe and other international destinations,” said Brian Ryks, CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), which owns and operates MSP.
For next summer, Minneapolis-St. Paul’s European destination offerings include London-Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris-Charles de Gaulles, Reykjavik, Dublin and Frankfurt. In addition, airlines that will provide transatlantic flights at MSP are: Air France, Aer Lingus, Condor, KLM, Icelandair, Delta Air Lines and Lufthansa.
Lufthansa will be the third Star Alliance member airline to operate at Minneapolis-St. Paul along with United Airlines and Air Canada, offering the region a boost in connectivity with access to these airlines’ global network.

Route details
- The service will operate year-round.
The route will be operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, offering a three-class configuration: business, premium economy and economy. The new service will provide convenient connections to destinations in the Lufthansa Group’s extensive global network, including routes to India and East Africa, which are experiencing growing demand from the Minneapolis-St. Paul region. Demand to East Africa from the Twin Cities is currently the fourth highest in the United States, after Washington, New York and Chicago.
Lufthansa Group’s U.S. network for the 2024 summer season will have nonstop service to: Las Vegas, Orlando, Philadelphia, Fort Myers, Salt Lake City, Tampa, Tampa, Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Newark, Washington-Dulles, Houston-Intercontinental, New York JFK, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago O’Hare, San Diego, Seattle-Tacoma, San Francisco, St. Louis and soon Raleigh-Durham and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
