Arajet expands in South America

By the end of the year, the Dominican company will operate in eight cities in South America. Bogota (BOG), Cartagena (CTG) and Medellin/Rionegro (MDE), Colombia; Guayaquil (GYE) and Quito (UIO), Ecuador; Lima (LIM), Peru; São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU), Brazil; and the recently inaugurated Santiago (SCL), Chile, will be joined, as of November 14, by Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE), Argentina.

Arajet plans to end 2023 with double its current fleet of five 185-passenger Boeing 737-8s. However, it has placed an order for 35 Boeing 737 MAX 8-200s, the high-density version of the MAX that can accommodate up to 210 passengers.

The low cost has three Boeing 737-8 HI 1098 «Laguna Ronda Miches», HI 1103 «Bahía de las Aguilas» and HI 1104, yet to be named.

In April 2023, the airline introduced 42 round-trip connections, operating twice a week to and from 9 of the 17 countries in its route network. «What we promised is now a reality: Arajet offers connections and brings 9 countries in our network of 11 destinations closer together at low fares so that more people can fly for the first time, visit friends and family, or go sightseeing in our region,» said Victor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet, at the time.
