National Airlines and Lufthansa Technik have formalized an agreement for the maintenance of the 747 engines of the Orlando, U.S.-based cargo company. In addition, Lufthansa Technik has signed a contract with Hawaiian Airlines for the maintenance of the Airbus A330ceo and A321neo fleet of the airline.
Contract with National Airlines for 747 Engine Maintenance
The contract signed by Lufthansa with National encompasses a comprehensive review of the CF6-80 engines that power their 747 aircraft, based in Orlando. The agreement will be valid for the next five years and includes engine washing and consumables support. Lufthansa had already been servicing National Airlines’ engines at various airports since April.
Apart from offering support for any aircraft that may be grounded due to technical issues (AOG) in Europe, Asia, and North America, Lufthansa Technik will also supply National Airlines with consumable and disposable items. They provide sets containing hundreds of selected components as an integral package.

Jim Casbarro, Vice President of Technical Operations at National Airlines, commented on this collaboration, stating, «Through this partnership, we now have access to Lufthansa’s expertise, further solidifying our growth and operational reliability.» In addition, Georgios Ouzounidis, Vice President of Corporate Sales for the Americas at Lufthansa Technik, added, «We are pleased to see this relationship with National Airlines flourish, which only began a few months ago.»
Lufthansa to Maintain Hawaiian Airlines’ Aircraft
Lufthansa Technik also celebrated the signing of a comprehensive component support (TCS) agreement with Hawaiian Airlines. This will cover the Airbus A330ceo and A321neo fleet operated by the airline from its base in Honolulu. It includes pooling of parts for up to 52 aircraft over seven years.
This is the first TCS contract that Lufthansa Technik signs with the U.S.-based airline. It covers 18 Airbus A321neo and 24 Airbus A330ceo passenger aircraft. Furthermore, it includes the ten Airbus A330-300 aircraft converted from passenger to freighter, which Hawaiian will operate on behalf of Amazon Air.
Lufthansa Technik will be responsible for component maintenance, grant access to its component pool and logistics services, and establish stocks at Hawaiian Airlines’ maintenance bases, including Daniel Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Los Angeles International Airport, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, all located in the United States.
