On October 30, Air Canada began non-stop flights between Toronto-Pearson and Monterrey International Airport, the first route between the state capital of Nuevo Leon and Canada, reinforcing air connectivity between both regions.
Flight AC 1359 was operated in an A220 registered with the registration number C-GTZW. The aircraft took off from Lester Pearson International Airport at 19:28 local time and landed at General Mariano Escobedo International Airport at 21:23, after four hours and five minutes.
Monterrey is the Canadian airline’s newest destination in Mexico, which is complemented by the company’s operations in Cancun, Cozumel, Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, San Jose del Cabo and Zihuatanejo. During the winter season, the company will offer more than 24,000 seats per week between Canada and Mexico.
“Monterrey continues to strengthen its network of connections, providing attractive international routes that contribute to the economic growth of Nuevo Leon and in turn benefit tourism and business travel between the two destinations,” said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of OMA.

The route is operated on Airbus A220-300 aircraft with a capacity of 137 seats in two classes (12 Business Class/125 Economy) and promotional fares are available starting at $246 one way. This service offers travelers access to more than 50 destinations in Toronto-Pearson.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Mexican Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), Air Canada moved 301,814 passengers and 448.1 tons of cargo in the January-September 2023 period: the airline has a 17.6% share of the Mexico-Canada market.
With this new service, Monterrey Airport consolidates its leadership as a hub in the north of the country. The airport currently offers 57 direct destinations operated by 15 airlines, including 17 international ones.
