After almost twenty years of absence, Qantas will resume regular flights to Paris, with a new non-stop service that will connect the French capital with Perth, in Western Australia. This follows the success that Qantas has been having with other ultra long-haul flights to London and Rome.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for July 12th. Initially, the Australian airline will operate four weekly frequencies during the peak of the European summer season, which will then reduce to three times a week from mid-August. The flights will be operated on Boeing 787-9 aircraft with a capacity for 42 passengers in Business, 28 in Premium Economy, and 166 in Economy.
“This route has been on our wish list for a while and we think customers will be as pleased as we are to see it go on sale today. Our direct flights to London and Rome have been hugely popular and Paris is the next most-requested destination, so we know the demand for this service will be strong as well,» said Vanessa Hudson, CEO of Qantas. She highlighted that some of the first passengers will be the Australian athletes traveling to the Paris 2024 Olympics.
According to Qantas, the arrival of new aircraft in recent months means that their recovery of international capacity will reach 90% compared to pre-COVID levels by the end of 2023, with projections to reach 100% by the middle of the following year.
In Paris, Qantas will offer connections to over 70 European destinations such as Barcelona, Munich, Frankfurt, and Athens thanks to their alliances with other airlines.
Fares for the new Qantas flights between Perth and Paris start at AUD 1,899 for a round trip.
