SkyWest orders 19 Embraer E175 aircraft for United Airlines regional flights
Embraer and SkyWest have finalized an agreement for the US airline to acquire 19 E175 aircraft. These new E-Jets are destined to operate within the United Airlines network, for the operator’s fleet to reach 90 aircraft.
The contract, valued at $1.1 billion based on the catalog price, has been added to Embraer’s order book for the third quarter. The 19 E175s will operate exclusively for United Airlines under a Capacity Purchase Agreement (CPA).
It is expected that the newly acquired E175s will begin arriving in the fourth quarter of 2024. The aircraft are configured to carry 70 passengers in three classes.
Martyn Holmes, CCO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, said that «we are delighted to continue our excellent collaboration with SkyWest. The E175 is truly a versatile aircraft and the backbone of North American regional aviation.»
Meanwhile, SkyWest’s President and CEO, Chip Childs, said: «SkyWest is already the world’s largest operator of the E175, and with this order delivery, we will have more than 250 E175s. We look forward to further enhancing the passenger flight experience with increased comfort and reliability.»
SkyWest’s current fleet consists of 573 aircraft, which are operated by the airline itself as well as American Eagle, Delta Connection, Alaska Airlines, and United Express.
