Edelweiss has received a new Airbus A320 from Swiss International Airlines, both of which belong to the Lufthansa Group. This aircraft will be integrated into the summer schedule of 2024.
The Swiss leisure airline continues its fleet expansion plan. The new aircraft, registered as HB-JLP, is 12 years old and was delivered to Swiss International Air Lines in March 2011. The aircraft has the capacity to carry 180 passengers in a single cabin and is powered by CFM-56 engines.
The last three Airbus A320 aircraft added by Edelweiss come from their sister company Swiss. Two arrived in 2022, and the latest one in February 2023. The airline is also anticipating the arrival of six Airbus A350-900XWB aircraft, which previously belonged to the Brazilian airline LATAM.
Edelweiss’s current fleet consists of 13 Airbus A320ceo and 5 A340-300 aircraft. The introduction of the A350 will significantly enhance the airline’s efficiency, as these planes consume 20% less fuel, reducing their environmental impact by being quieter and emitting fewer CO₂ emissions.
