Malaysia Airlines received its first Boeing 737 MAX, which showcases the airline’s new livery. After 21 hours of flight, the 737-8 landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) from Boeing Field (BFI).
The aircraft, with the Malaysian registration 9M-MVA, departed on November 13 from Boeing’s facilities in Seattle and arrived in Kuala Lumpur on November 16. During the journey, it made two technical stops in Honolulu (HNL) and Guam (GUM). Upon reaching its new home, the 737 MAX was greeted with the traditional water arch.
Malaysia Airlines’ new aircraft is the first to showcase the new livery with songket motifs, paying tribute to the vibrant cultural heritage of the country. This is the first of 25 Boeing 737-8 aircraft that the airline will receive in the coming years.

The logo is adorned with a golden-toned songket motif, honoring Malaysia’s cultural heritage and the airline’s commitment as a global ambassador for the nation. Similar to its recently renovated B737-800 NG aircraft, the 737-8 will also be equipped with Malaysia Airlines’ wireless In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system, MHstudio.
Malaysia Airlines operates a fleet of 74 aircraft including 42 Boeing 737-800, 9 Airbus A330-200, 15 A330-300, and 7 A350-900, in addition to the recently incorporated 737-8.
