Airbus Delivers First A321neo from Former A380 Assembly Line
Airbus has achieved a significant milestone by delivering its first A321neo from its newest A320 Family Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse. The aircraft, representing the latest in aviation technology, was handed over to Pegasus Airlines, Türkiye’s leading low-cost carrier (LCC).
Enhanced Production for Growing Demand
Located in the former A380 «Jean-Luc Lagardère» building, this new FAL highlights Airbus’ drive to modernize and expand its production capabilities. This is particularly significant given that the A321neo now constitutes nearly 65% of the company’s A320 Family order backlog. The new facility is set to play a crucial role in meeting the increasing global demand for this aircraft model.
The new FAL was announced in January 2020 and was set to start deliveries in 2022, but the pandemic hindered those plans, delaying a much needed extra production capacity.
Superior Features of the A321neo
The A321neo, as the largest member of the A320neo Family, offers an unmatched combination of range and performance. It’s equipped with new-generation engines and Sharklets, leading to a 50% reduction in noise footprint and over a 20% reduction in both fuel burn and CO₂ emissions. The aircraft is highly favored for its environmental efficiency and passenger comfort in the widest single-aisle cabin available.
With more than 5,600 orders from over 100 customers globally, the A321neo’s popularity is undeniable:Pegasus Airlines, a substantial Airbus customer, currently operates a fleet of 93 Airbus aircraft. This includes 6 A320ceo, 46 A320neo, and 41 A321neo models, with an additional 68 A321neos on order.
