American Airlines has been awarded a $22 million incentive by the State of Oklahoma, aimed at upgrading and expanding the airline’s maintenance base in Tulsa. This development is part of a broader investment strategy by the airline, which includes a new $31.6 million engine shop and a massive $350 million improvement project.
Greg Emerson, American’s Vice President of Base Maintenance and Facilities, expressed gratitude towards state officials and emphasized the pivotal role this investment plays in the future of Tulsa’s Tech Ops facility. «“American has a long, rich history in Oklahoma and this investment ensures a bright future for years to come», he added.
Over 300 high-paying jobs are anticipated to be created, significantly enhancing the local economy.
Strengthening Oklahoma’s business landscape
Oklahoma Lt. Governor Matt Pinnell highlighted the importance of nurturing existing businesses within the state to foster economic growth. Programs like the Business Expansion Incentive Program and the P3 Pooled Finance Program are essential tools in achieving this goal. «Oklahoma companies will strengthen and grow, boosting local economies and moving our state forward», Pinnell said.
The Tech Ops – Tulsa facility has been a cornerstone of American’s aircraft maintenance since 1946, boasting the title of the world’s largest commercial aviation maintenance base. This facility, sprawling over 246 acres, is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, housing thousands of skilled professionals.
Opening Doors to New Opportunities
