    Paranair launches flights between Córdoba and Asunción to compete with Aerolíneas Argentinas

    Paranair announced that it will connect Asunción (ASU), Paraguay, with Córdoba (COR), Argentina, starting from March 6, 2024 with three weekly flights, competing directly with Aerolíneas Argentinas, which will start on the next April 2, 2024.

    Both airlines seek to fill the gap left by Air Europa, which decided to cancel the link between Asunción and Córdoba in July 2023, favoring separate and non-stop connections to both South American cities.

    Paranair’s Flight Schedule to Córdoba

    Flights between Asunción and Córdoba will be operated on Mitsubishi CRJ-200 regional aircraft with a capacity of 50 passengers, for a total of 300 seats per week.

    • flight ZP 839 ASU 08:50 – 10:40 COR / Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
    • flight ZP 840 COR 11:25 – 13:05 ASU / Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

    The company will compete with Aerolíneas Argentinas’ two weekly flights, which will be operated on Embraer 190, with a configuration of 96 seats and a total of 384 seats per week.

    Current Status of Paranair

    Paranair is a Paraguayan regional company with a fleet of three CRJ 200s, connecting Asunción with:

    • Buenos Aires/Aeroparque (AEP), Argentina, two daily flights.
    • Ciudad del Este (AGT), Paraguay, four weekly flights.
    • Montevideo (MVD), Uruguay, two daily flights.
    • Santa Cruz de la Sierra (VVI), Bolivia, one daily flight.

    During the summer season, the company adds Florianópolis (FLN) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) in Brazil, and Punta del Este (PDP) in Uruguay. Prior to the COVID-19 health crisis, the company operated to Salta (SLA), Argentina; and Iquique (IQQ), Chile, which to date do not have a recovery date.

    Furthermore, the company has an interline agreement with LATAM, which allows the latter to access Paranair’s network of destinations and market its routes.
