The Canadian airline Lynx Air introduces its new services to Charlottetown and Quebec. Charlottetown will have direct flights from Toronto and Calgary, and Quebec will be connected to Calgary and Vancouver.
New Flights to Charlottetown
Starting May 30, 2024, Lynx Air will fly to Prince Edward Island from Calgary International Airport (YYC) with a layover at Pearson Airport in Toronto (YYZ).
Lynx Air announced that in the initial phase, the route will have two weekly flights on Mondays and Thursdays, and starting June 10, it will increase to three weekly flights, adding a connection on Fridays. The flight will depart from Calgary, make a brief stop in Toronto, and then complete the journey to Charlottetown.
Vijay Bathija, Lynx’s Commercial Director, stated: «We are delighted to expand our services to Charlottetown in response to strong traveler demand. Whether traveling to meet friends and family or to discover the natural beauty of PEI’s coast, top-notch seafood, or the island’s hospitality, Lynx takes pride in making this beautiful province accessible to more Canadians with our ultra-affordable fares.»
In response, Cory Deagle, Minister of Fisheries, Tourism, Sports, and Culture, mentioned that «The Province of Prince Edward Island is pleased to welcome Lynx Air and its guests. Reliable air access to and from key destinations is crucial to supporting trade, tourism, and population growth in our province. We will continue to work with the Charlottetown Airport Authority and airline partners to offer more options to travelers.»
New Destination: Quebec
Starting June 6, 2024, Lynx Air will fly from the provinces of Alberta and British Columbia to the city of Quebec, on the east coast of Canada. The Canadian ultra-low-cost airline continues to expand its route network, marking a stronger presence in transcontinental connections.
The route between Quebec (YBQ) and Calgary (YYC) will operate five times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, extending service to Vancouver (YVR) three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Vijay Bathija expressed: «We are thrilled to add Quebec City to our rapidly expanding network. Our strategy is to fly to destinations where airfares are high, and low-cost options are limited. Quebec City, the capital of Quebec, provides another opportunity for Lynx to expand in the east and serve these high-demand markets.»
Stéphane Poirier, President and CEO of Jean-Lesage International Airport in Quebec City, said: «We are very pleased to be part of Lynx’s expanding network, starting next summer. Residents of Quebec City and the entire eastern part of the province will benefit from new options to visit Calgary and Vancouver, two very popular destinations in western Canada.»
«The addition of affordable flights to the Lynx network directly aligns with our goal of offering even more choices to local travelers, serving as a direct gateway for tourists to the magnificent region of Quebec City.», added Poirier.
