American Express unveiled its impressive Centurion Lounge at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest terminal. Spanning nearly 26,000 square feet (2,400 square meters), it stands as the largest lounge in the Centurion network.

The facility features a menu inspired by local flavors, diverse seating options, outdoor terraces overlooking the runway, and The Reserve by American Express, an exclusive whiskey bar serving unique cocktails and a selection of American whiskies. The new lounge is located in Concourse E, near gate E11. “This new Centurion Lounge will cater to travelers in one of the airports our members frequent the most,” stated Audrey Hendley, President of American Express Travel. “It features amenities we know the public enjoys, such as outdoor terraces and plenty of space to relax. Additionally, we’ve added a local touch to the menus and design.”

The design draws inspiration from Atlanta’s reputation as the “city in the forest” and its abundance of trees. The main area boasts a 50-year-old olive tree and a light sculpture representing a forest canopy. Additionally, visitors can enjoy multiple outdoor terraces, a novelty in the Centurion network. The lounge showcases artworks commissioned from local artists, including a 60-foot (20-meter) mural of abstract leaf-like shapes extending from the dining area to the terrace.

On the culinary front, Chef Deborah VanTrece, owner of restaurants in Atlanta, brings her modern and global gastronomic approach to the lounge. Using flavors and techniques discovered while traveling as a flight attendant, the menu includes Black Eyed Pea Biryani, Za’atar Grilled Chicken Thighs with Green Tomato Chimichurri, and Twisted Soul Salad with Strawberry Peppercorn Vinaigrette. Additionally, there will be a dedicated station for gluten-free and vegan options.

“Atlanta has become an intriguing melting pot of cultures and cuisines. I’m excited to bring foods that celebrate these traditions, along with the finest Southern ingredients, to this Lounge,” declared VanTrece. “Traveling has inspired my approach as a chef. I feel blessed to share my vision of food and hospitality.” As a first in the Centurion network, The Reserve by American Express is the inaugural dedicated whiskey bar. The cocktail menu, curated by award-winning mixologist Jim Meehan, includes five special whiskey-based cocktails. Travelers can also choose from over 20 classic and new American whiskies. The bar offers a modern take on a classic whiskey bar with dark finishes and caramel-colored leather seating, connecting to an outdoor lounge area.
