Emirates resumes operations to Adelaide, Australia

Emirates is expanding its Australian offering for the 2024 summer season with the resumption of its service between Adelaide and Dubai. The reinstated route will support the growing demand for travel to and from South Australia by allowing passengers to access 140 destinations across the airline’s Dubai network.

Emirates began operations in Adelaide in 2012 and moved more than 165,000 passengers between Adelaide and Dubai in 2019. By December 1, when the airline begins its second daily flight to Perth, the carrier will have a schedule of 77 weekly flights to Australia, returning to its pre-pandemic capacity.

The South Australian Tourism Commission estimates that spending from Emirates’ daily nonstop service generates more than $62 million and creates 315 tourism-related jobs. Each flight will also provide 14 tons of cargo space, totaling 196 tons per week between Dubai and Adelaide. Cargo exports are estimated to be worth $98 million a year, bringing the total estimated spend generated by Emirates flights to Adelaide to $160 million.

«The return of our Adelaide service completes our existing presence in Australia, with flights to five points in the country. With special thanks to our partners at the South Australian Tourism Commission and Adelaide Airport, we couldn’t be prouder to deliver on Emirates’ commitment to Australia. We are already looking forward to welcoming on board our first passengers from Adelaide in October,» said Barry Brown, Emirates’ Divisional Vice President Australasia.

«This is great news for our customers, who will once again benefit from Emirates’ extensive global network via Dubai. It offers greater competition and choice for travelers, including through Emirates’ codeshare agreement with Qantas, which connects across the Middle East to Europe and Africa. It also creates significant tourism and economic opportunities by attracting international visitors to Adelaide,» said Brenton Cox, managing director of Adelaide Airport.

The route will be operated daily on Boeing 777-200LR aircraft with 38 Business Class along with 264 Economy seats. The service to Adelaide will provide 302 seats per day per flight and more than 4,200 seats per week. The Business Class layout offered by Emirates is 2-2-2.

The service will commence on October 28, 2024, Emirates flight EK440 will depart Dubai at 02:00 and arrive in Adelaide at 20:50. The return flight EK441 will depart Adelaide at 22:35 and land in Dubai at 05:15 the following day. All times are local.

The flight schedule connects passengers with convenient Emirates arrival and departure times in Europe, offering optimal connections in less than four hours. With Dubai being a key connecting hub, customers are expected to travel from Adelaide to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Manchester, Rome, Athens, Dublin, Barcelona and Milan.

Emirates currently has a schedule in Australia of 63 weekly flights to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney operated on a combination of Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s.
