GOL Linhas Aéreas and Aerolíneas Argentinas announced the expansion of their code-share agreement, incorporating two new routes that will connect Argentina and Colombia.

The agreement update was formalized in Buenos Aires, with the signatures of Celso Ferrer, CEO of GOL, and Fabián Lombardo, CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas, as reported by our associated media in Brazil, Aeroin. This strategic move introduces a route operated by GOL from Ezeiza Airport (EZE) in Argentina to El Dorado Airport (BOG) in Bogotá, Colombia, scheduled to begin operations in April, which is a continuation of a flight originating in Sao Paulo, taking advantage of the fifth freedom of the air.

The route of Aerolíneas Argentinas that connects Jorge Newbery Aeroparque (AEP) in Buenos Aires with the Colombian capital is also incorporated.

This development will allow Aerolíneas Argentinas passengers to access convenient connections through Ezeiza to Bogotá on GOL flights. Reciprocally, GOL customers will be able to take advantage of Aerolíneas Argentinas services to travel between Buenos Aires and Bogotá.

The implementation of the expanded agreement, they noted, is subject to approval by Argentine regulatory authorities. Once approval is obtained, the sale of code-shared tickets will begin.

The partnership between GOL Linhas Aéreas and Aerolíneas Argentinas began in 2007 with an interline agreement and evolved into a code-share agreement in 2014. Since then, they have transported more than a million passengers. Currently, Aerolíneas Argentinas customers have access to 75 destinations operated by GOL, while GOL can market flights to 62 destinations served by Aerolíneas Argentinas.

Furthermore, last October, the Argentine state company signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a strategic cooperation agreement with Grupo Abra, the new Latin American airline holding that includes both GOL and Avianca.
