airBaltic has received its Airbus A220-300 number 47, reaffirming its position as one of the main operators of the A220 family. The airline, originally the launch customer of the Bombardier CSeries 300 before its acquisition by the European consortium, expects to reach 50 aircraft during 2024.
The aircraft, registered as YL-ABU, made its delivery flight directly from Airbus Canada facilities in Montreal to the capital of Latvia, Riga. The delivery took place on February 13th, with a total duration of 8 hours.
On February 15th, this new aircraft completed its first commercial flight, covering the route between Riga (YMX) and Vilnius (VNO), Lithuania, followed by another flight between Riga and Tallinn (TLL), Estonia.
With the arrival of this aircraft, airBaltic expects to receive its 50th aircraft in the coming months, consolidating its position as the main operator of the A220 family in Europe and the second largest worldwide.
