Porter Airlines announced the opening of three new crew bases in Canada. More than 350 pilots and flight attendants certified in the Embraer E195-E2 fleet of the company will be based at the international airports of Ottawa (YOW), Montreal-Trudeau (YUL), and Vancouver (YVR).
During the boreal summer of 2024, Porter will operate 14 non-stop routes from Ottawa, six routes from Montreal, and three routes from Vancouver. These bases feed Porter’s network in Eastern Canada and its growing Western markets.
Kent Woodside, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Porter Airlines, said: «These new bases will offer significant opportunities to crews wishing to live close to where they work. Local crews can better support Porter’s commitment to operational reliability and ultimately deliver an even higher level of service to our passengers.»
The Ottawa base will open in June 2024 and will have approximately 150 crew members. In July, the Montreal base will be inaugurated with 100 crew members, and in October of the same year, the Vancouver base will start operating with 100 crew members.
Porter currently has approximately 650 pilots and 775 cabin crew members operating from an Embraer E195-E2 crew base in Toronto-Pearson, as well as Dash 8-400 crew bases in Toronto-City, Ottawa, Halifax, and Thunder Bay. By the end of 2024, there will be approximately 2,000 crew members in total.
The airline has a fleet of 58 aircraft, consisting of 29 De Havilland Canada DHC 8-400 and 29 Embraer E195-E2.
