Qatar Airways, the country’s flag carrier, has finally decided on the future of its pair of soon-to-be-retired cargo jumbo jets.

Registered A7-BGA and A7-BGB, the jets came to the Qatari carrier seven years ago following an offer from Boeing for the withdrawal of airlines that would have purchased the two 747-8F units, the last of the Jumbos.

The company confirmed to CargoFacts that it will streamline its cargo fleet, which will consist exclusively of 777F jets.

This will be made possible by the sale of the Jumbos to another airline, U.S.-based UPS Airlines. In the coming months, the aircraft will be shipped to the new operator, ending the 747 cycle at Qatar.
