The Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC) inaugurated the Virtual Reality Simulation Center of the T-6C Team, located in the facilities of the Air Combat Command No.1, in Puerto Salgar Cundinamarca.
«Here they will be able to develop different maneuvers, react to emergencies and critical situations in which the aircraft can be placed, improving decision making and continue on the ground without any risk. In addition, it is noteworthy that, in the American hemisphere, only the United States and the Colombian Aerospace Force have equipment such as this augmented virtual reality equipment, which drastically reduces training costs and increases the proficiency and level of training of our military pilots,» said Major General Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda, second commander and Chief of Staff of the FAC.
These augmented virtual reality simulators prepare military pilots for current and future scenarios, improving the level of training and education, facing situations as realistic as those encountered in a real flight, avoiding exposing both military pilots and aircraft to risk.
The opening ceremony was attended by Major General, second commander and chief of staff of the Colombian Aerospace Force, the Brigadier General, head of the Aeronautical and Space Education Headquarters, the general director for Vertex Solutions ( US company supplier of virtual reality simulators), among other military and civilian personalities, who have been part of the group of people who made this inauguration a reality.
The FAC’s new Virtual Reality Simulation Center will not only be available to the institution’s military pilots, but also to those of all the Military Air Forces in the region.
