Delta Air Lines has announced the return of its non-stop route between New York (JFK) and Tel Aviv (TLV) for the upcoming summer of 2024. The service will be operated using Airbus A330-900neo, offering approximately 2,000 seats weekly to Israel.
The resumption of service is scheduled for June 7, 2024. This connection was suspended in October 2023 due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Delta will closely monitor the situation in the region to ensure the safety of its passengers and crews.
The US airline has worked to strengthen its presence in Israel through the signing of a codeshare agreement with El Al Israel Airlines.
Delta Air Lines customers have access to direct flights from and to major US cities operated by the Israeli airline. New York (JFK), New York (EWR), Boston (BOS), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) are the destinations El Al operates from Tel Aviv.
Gradual Return of Airlines to Israel
US airlines are slowly returning to Israel to meet the high demand for travel. The first company to resume services to Tel Aviv was United Airlines, with its flight from New York (EWR).
The route was resumed on March 6, departing from Newark and making a technical stop in Munich. The service is operated with Boeing 787-10 aircraft with a capacity for 318 passengers.
Meanwhile, Air Canada expects to resume its flights from Toronto and Montreal to Tel Aviv on April 9 and May 1, respectively. Both flights will be operated with Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
