United to fly to Morocco

United Airlines will have flights to Morocco for the upcoming winter season, cementing its position as the carrier with the most destinations to Africa from the New York metropolitan area. The carrier will be the only U.S. carrier to provide nonstop flights to Morocco.

United will connect New York/Newark and Marrakech three times a week on Boeing 767-300ER High J aircraft with 46 Polaris, 22 United Premium Plus, 43 Economy Plus and 56 Economy seats, which are used on flights to London Heathrow and Switzerland, the airline is seeking to capture premium leisure passengers by providing more Polaris seats.

Currently, Royal Air Maroc is the only airline offering non-stop service between Morocco and the United States from Casablanca to New York, Washington-Dulles and Miami with connections to other tourist destinations in Morocco. In addition to United’s new service. Marrakech is experiencing an increase in the transatlantic market, as it will receive Air Transat service from Montreal beginning in June.

This new route further expands United’s presence in Africa. Currently, the airline has service to Accra, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; and Cape Town and Johannesburg, South Africa.
