As part of its fleet modernization and replacement of Boeing 777-300ERs, Japan Airlines has taken delivery of its third Airbus A350-1000 registered as JA03WJ. The aircraft arrived at Haneda Airport on March 31 and is scheduled to operate the A350-1000 to Dallas/Fort Worth from April 17. This is the second international route with this model, after New York JFK.
The third aircraft took off from Toulouse, France (location of the Airbus assembly plant) at 14:41 local time. Destined for Haneda Airport as JL8102, a non-passenger ferry flight, it landed on Haneda’s Runway B at 11:42, where it underwent inspections in the maintenance hangar.
Japan Airlines’ A350-1000 has a capacity of 239 seats in four classes, including 6 First Class seats in a 1-1-1 layout, 54 in Business Class (1-2-1 in the same row), 24 in Premium Economy (2-4-2), and 155 in Economy. The airline currently has the least dense A350-1000 configuration worldwide.
At the end of January this year, Japan Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A350-1000, followed by a second aircraft a few days later, after which this model was used to operate one of two daily flights to New York JFK. A third service to London Heathrow is planned for the end of 2024.
