Globalia Mantenimiento Aeronáutico (GMA) inaugurated its new hangar at Madrid Barajas International Airport (MAD). The new facilities have the capacity to accommodate up to three wide-body aircraft.
The new hangar adds to the two that the company owns at Palma de Mallorca Airport, which can handle up to three narrow-body and one wide-body aircraft.
The General Manager of GMA, Oscar Pérez Vázquez, stated: «With this new center of excellence, a process in which the entire GMA team has been involved concludes, placing us as one of the benchmarks for aircraft maintenance in Spain and Europe.»
«The opening will allow a significant improvement in Air Europa’s operations at the Madrid hub, and on the other hand, to meet the maintenance demand of our Wide Body customers in southern Europe,» he added.
The new hangar at Madrid Barajas Airport can serve up to three wide-body aircraft, Airbus A330 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
GMA is certified to perform base and line maintenance work on aircraft from the Boeing 737NG and 787 Dreamliner families; Airbus A320 and A330-200/300; and Embraer E-jet E-1.
Additionally, they have the capability to carry out engine maintenance, including periodic inspections and preservation. They also conduct Service Bulletins (SB) for aircraft and engines.
Other services provided by GMA include the maintenance of composite materials used in modern aircraft, among other services such as: testing, repair, maintenance, inspection, and modification for nacelles, radomes, and flight controls.
