Qatar Airways announced the introduction of high-speed, low-latency Starlink Wi-Fi service on three of its Boeing 777-300 aircraft. This new internet service will be available in the last quarter of 2024.

The introduction of Starlink satellite internet on the three 777-300 aircraft is part of the initial phase of Qatar Airways’ deployment strategy. The airline plans to gradually extend SpaceX’s technology to its entire modern fleet over the next two years.

The announcement took place on the second day of the Aircraft Interior Expo in Hamburg, Germany, in the presence of the Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, and Mike Nicolls, Vice President of Starlink Engineering at SpaceX.

Qatar Airways will offer ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity of up to 500 megabits per second. Passengers will be able to enjoy a variety of internet-based services, including video streaming of their favorite entertainment and sports, online gaming, enriched web browsing, and much more.

The Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said: “This exciting collaboration with Starlink is a testament to our customer-first mindset and our commitment to elevating our passengers’ experience to unprecedented levels, as we continue to drive our innovative offerings to meet and exceed passenger expectations throughout their journey with Qatar Airways.”Featured

As the first service of its kind in the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa), the collaboration with Starlink marks a new milestone for Qatar’s national airline. This strategic initiative will further enhance the airline’s unparalleled onboard experience.

The Vice President of Starlink Engineering at SpaceX, Mike Nicolls, noted, «High-speed, low-latency internet is the future of connectivity in aviation, and we are thrilled to work with Qatar Airways to start flying with Starlink on their fleet later this year.”

“Soon, all Qatar Airways passengers will be able to enjoy the benefits of the world’s best in-flight connectivity from the comfort of their seats,” Nicolls added.
