Nearly 50% of TAP passengers who used the Portugal Stopover program in 2023 purchased their tickets from Brazil, while 20% were from the United States. São Paulo-Guarulhos was the primary airport where most customers began their stopover trips, followed by Rio de Janeiro, Recife, and New York. Brazilian passengers who participated in the TAP Stopover program favored Paris, Rome, and Madrid as their final destinations.

For passengers from the United States, the most popular stopover destinations were Barcelona, Madrid, and Rome. Funchal and Ponta Delgada also featured in the top 10 preferred final destinations for American travelers.

TAP also offers the option of a second stopover in Portugal during the stopover period, providing a 25% discount on any domestic flight. This allows passengers stopping in Lisbon or Porto to visit another Portuguese region, such as the Azores or Madeira, during their stay.

Portugal Stopover customers benefit from exclusive offers and discounts at 149 partners throughout the country, including hotels, restaurants, activities, excursions, museums, cultural venues, shopping, and services. In 2023, TAP’s Portugal Stopover Program was recognized for the fifth consecutive year as the best in the world by the U.S. magazine Global Traveler.
