Icelandair schedules flights to Lisbon, deepening cooperation with TAP Air Portugal

Icelandair is boosting its European network this winter signing an extended agreement with TAP Air Portugal and a new non-stop service to Lisbon, the airline’s fourth destination on the Iberian Peninsula. The route is scheduled to start on October 11 with twice weekly flights on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Icelandair and Lisbon-based TAP Air Portugal signed a Memorandum of Understanding for further strategic cooperation. Under the agreement, the two airlines will develop a codeshare agreement that will allow passengers to travel seamlessly between the networks of both airlines, opening up new connections and travel corridors between Iceland and Lisbon.
Both airlines are known for their stopover programs, which allow passengers to explore the airline’s home country en route between destinations without paying additional airfare.
We are very pleased to announce Lisbon as the latest addition to our extensive route network and, at the same time, increase our partnership with TAP. Lisbon has much to offer our customers, and the increased partnership will add convenient travel corridors to many destinations in Brazil and Africa,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, President and CEO of Icelandair.
We have and will continue to expand our network of partner airlines, focusing on working with airlines that offer great service and connectivity. We are delighted to expand our partnership with TAP and look forward to working with them to make our passengers’ journeys smooth and enjoyable,” he added.
We believe this partnership with Icelandair will enrich the portfolio of travel options and destinations we offer customers across our network.  By partnering with Icelandair, we will be able to offer seamless flights to Iceland, one of the most exciting travel destinations, and open up our extensive network of destinations available from our Lisbon hub to all Icelandair customers. We look forward to working with Icelandair for the benefit of all travel lovers,” said Luís Rodrigues, CEO of TAP Air Portugal.
