Over the past nine months, J&C Aero has designed, fabricated and installed a cabin interior on a 757 that includes state-of-the-art seating, modern Passenger Service Units (PSUs), dynamic LED cabin lighting, as well as restrooms, cabin crew areas and remodeled galley. The refurbishment of seats and other systems has reduced the aircraft’s overall weight by almost 1,000 kg, saving the airline additional fuel and improving the flight experience for passengers. This, the company noted, brings the 757’s interiors to the same level as those of the 737 MAX.
During the project, the company also provided new floor coverings and PL floor path marking systems, refurbished side walls and ceiling panels, repaired and refurbished damaged cabin parts, designed a new emergency equipment layout, and implemented a more efficient new cabin appearance.
The first aircraft has already been completed, and two more will be delivered during the coming winter. They belong to a Central Asian airline.
J&C Aero designed, refurbished and manufactured the cabin interior elements at its cabin interior center in Vilnius, Lithuania, while the company completed the installation work at its customer base. The cabin upgrade of the remaining two aircraft will take no more than three months and is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
“Air transport is flourishing again, but the market lacks capacity. Considering the delay in acquiring new aircraft and the growing shortage in the secondary market for aircraft, airlines are turning their eyes to older generation aircraft. For example, the Boeing 757 – it was designed more than 40 years ago, but can still show efficiency in terms of capacity and range. However, it can hardly meet the expectations of today’s passengers in terms of comfort, technology and cabin aesthetics,” said Maksim Jurkov, Head of Design at J&C Aero.
