In tribute to the athletes representing Colombia, Ecuador, and El Salvador at the Paris Olympic Games, avianca – the official airline of the Olympic Committees of the three countries – today unveiled an aircraft with a new commemorative livery. This aircraft, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, will fly across the skies of 25 countries and 75 destinations through avianca’s route network to showcase the talent of local athletes under the slogan #WeBelieveInTheExtraordinary.

Today, the tribute aircraft completed its first itinerary on the Bogotá-Paris route. On avianca flight AV228 – also the official airline of the Colombian teams – a group of more than 15 players from the Colombian Women’s National Football Team departed, preparing to compete in Paris starting July 26.

“When we say we believe in the extraordinary, we also demonstrate it. Therefore, this year we have the honor of being the official airline of the Olympic Committees of Colombia, Ecuador, and El Salvador, as well as the Colombian teams in all their categories. But, in addition, today we are unveiling an aircraft that reaffirms our pride and recognizes the effort of our athletes, coaches, and delegations,” said Ana María Copete, Director of Commercial Development at avianca.

The presentation of avianca’s new livery at El Dorado Airport in Bogotá was attended by the presidents of the Olympic Committees of Colombia, Ecuador, and El Salvador. “For the Colombian Olympic family, it is a source of pride to be present on this aircraft with our brand, in a partnership that benefits the athletes competing in the Olympic Games. Today, we begin to arrive in Paris with Avianca, and the pioneers are the members of the Colombian Women’s National Football Team, who represent the entire delegation, with whom we hope to return on this same aircraft, with several Olympic medals,” said Ciro Solano Hurtado, President of the Colombian Olympic Committee.

Captain Jorge Aurelio Delgado, President of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee, added: “For Ecuadorian Olympic sports, having Avianca as the official airline of Team Ecuador is a source of great satisfaction and pride. Undoubtedly, it fills us with joy to tell Ecuador that our athletes will travel with all the comforts and the best attention to arrive in Paris in the best conditions and achieve their goals. We thank its executives for trusting in the tricolor Olympic sports and wish them the best of success on this new route, which will undoubtedly be another achievement of an airline that makes us dream of the extraordinary.”

José Armando Bruni, President of the Salvadoran Olympic Committee, stated: “For the Salvadoran Olympic Committee, the alliance with Avianca is extremely important as this airline, with deep roots in El Salvador, has become the official airline of #TeamESA for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Avianca’s exposure of the Olympic Committees of El Salvador, Colombia, and Ecuador on an aircraft highlights the collaboration and brotherhood between these countries. Thus, the skies connecting our continent with Paris will help us promote the Olympic Movement. We are very grateful for all the support and trust in the project.”
