Croatia Airlines has begun the modernization of its fleet with the delivery of its first Airbus A220-300, which left the Airbus Mirabel Plant in Canada. The delivery of these new aircraft is part of the largest project in the airline’s history as it celebrates its 35th anniversary.
The first aircraft delivered to the airline is one of 13 A220-300s and two A220-100s ordered. This model is scheduled to operate to domestic destinations in Zagreb, Dubrovnik, and Split, and will also fly to international destinations such as Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Berlin, London-Heathrow, and Skopje.
The A220 consumes 25% less fuel and carbon dioxide emissions per seat and decreases by 25% compared to the aircraft it will replace. The A220 can also operate on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Airbus aims to have all its aircraft operating on up to 100% SAF by 2030.
The A220 is designed for the 100-150 passenger market and has a range of 6,700 kilometers, making it a solution to expedite Croatia Airlines’ expansion and provide better service quality. The A220 is powered by Pratt & Whitney engines and features an innovative cabin design, wider seats, larger windows, and larger compartments.
