Cicare Ch-8

The Cicaré CH-8, an experimental helicopter designed by the renowned Argentine company Cicaré Helicopters, represents an important advancement in rotary-wing aviation. This innovative helicopter with a cutting-edge design has been awarded at EAA AirVenture OshKosh 2024, the largest aviation exhibition in the United States and one of the most important globally. The Charles Lindbergh award was given in the category of Design, Innovation, Build Quality, and Safety.

The Cicaré CH-8, an ultralight, side-by-side two-seater helicopter, stands out for its light and aerodynamic structure made of carbon fiber. The cockpit is a lightweight semi-monocoque that optimizes performance and efficiency. Initially produced as an experimental project, the CH-8 incorporates technologies aimed at improving safety and operational economy, such as the optimized semi-rigid rotor system and low vibration levels. Its structure is made of SAE 4130 chromoly steel with aeronautical truss welding.

Regarding the powerplant, the CH-8 offers two engine options: the Rotax 915 IS with 141 HP, which provides a 30% fuel saving compared to competing engines, and the Rotax EPA POWER R917Ti with 135 HP. These innovations not only enhance the helicopter’s flight capabilities but also contribute to greater fuel efficiency and reduced operating costs.

In terms of avionics, the CH-8 features a large dashboard suitable for mini iPad, Garmin Aera 500 series, or 796 and RS flight system instruments. The version with the EPA POWER engine is equipped with a standard C125 display. The Cicaré CH-8 has the potential to significantly influence the light and experimental helicopter market, establishing itself as a major competitor in a constantly expanding market that seeks innovations.

Cicaré CH-8: Innovation and affordability born from decades of experience

The experience and knowledge of Cicaré Helicopters in building experimental helicopters position the CH-8 as an example of regional innovation. Founded by Augusto Ulderico Cicaré, the company has established itself in the global market, opening development opportunities and impacting the industry. This award is the result of years of innovation and technological testing.

The first presentation of a Cicaré helicopter at Oshkosh dates back to 1990, when its founder, Augusto Cicaré, introduced the CH-6B. Currently, the company has representatives in the United States and Europe. At the last Aero Friedrichshafen, Cicaré announced the certification of the CH-8 in Germany, obtaining the Type Certificate from D.U.L.V.
