JetSMART and American Airlines have taken another step in their strategic alliance by expanding their codeshare flight network to include routes between the United States and Argentina. This integration is initially focused on the province of Mendoza, a region globally renowned for its wine production and as the capital of Malbec.
Thanks to this agreement, travelers wishing to fly from the United States to Mendoza can now purchase tickets that combine American Airlines flights with connections offered by JetSMART. This new service allows passengers to reach Mendoza directly without having to pass through Buenos Aires, making access to one of Argentina’s most important regions more convenient.
For example, in a random search on the American Airlines website, it was observed that the connection is available on October 8 via Santiago, Chile, and the next day via São Paulo, Brazil, through AA’s agreement with GOL. In these cases, the connection with JetSMART is $1,000 cheaper.
Gonzalo Pérez Corral, JetSMART’s Country Manager in Argentina, emphasized the significance of this development: “As a result of this alliance, travelers wishing to reach Mendoza can now easily purchase their tickets from the United States. This partnership and the new codeshare agreement open South America to customers from both sides of the world, connecting people, businesses, and cultures.”
This advancement not only benefits U.S. passengers but also residents of Mendoza, who can now purchase tickets to the United States directly on the American Airlines website, using JetSMART routes to fly to Santiago, Chile.
Currently, the codeshare system between JetSMART and American Airlines includes over 14 routes in Chile, Peru, and Argentina, available through the American Airlines portal.
Alex Cavalcanti, Senior Manager of Sales and Alliances for South America at American Airlines, commented on this expansion: “We are very pleased to offer customers a new way to reach Argentina’s wine country through our codeshare with JetSMART. The partnership between American and JetSMART continues to grow, offering customers competitive fares and expanded travel options throughout North and South America.”
Estuardo Ortiz, CEO and founder of JetSMART, added: “Since our inception, we have innovated in the airline industry with ultra-low fares and new routes. With this announcement, we deepen our commitment to our customers by creating travel opportunities between Argentina and the United States.”
JetSMART plans to continue expanding this alliance in the coming months, including the integration of its rewards program with AAdvantage® and the addition of new codeshare routes in Colombia by 2025.
