This morning, a press conference convened by JetSMART took place at a hotel in Buenos Aires, where they previewed their upcoming growth steps in Argentina. Participating in the event were the CEO of the Indigo Partners ultra low-cost airline, Estuardo Ortiz; the General Manager of JetSMART Argentina, Gonzalo Pérez Corral, accompanied by national authorities.
Among the main points announced was the incorporation of two A320ceo aircraft between October and November, which will allow them to total 10 aircraft by the end of the year, and thus, along with increased utilization, grow their domestic seat offer in Argentina by 86% for January.
This includes doubling the frequencies on their flights to Mendoza and Tucumán, among other destinations, and reactivating the routes Mendoza – Salta (four weekly flights) and Bariloche – Mendoza (five weekly flights) in November; and the Buenos Aires – Comodoro Rivadavia route in January, with five weekly flights.
«We are experiencing a significant transformation in the country and the industry, which we are always accompanying and working hard on from the company. That’s why I wanted to personally thank the authorities for their work,» said Gonzalo Perez Corral.

Estuardo Ortiz added that «we advanced with an agenda that we thought was impossible» and that «this is bringing Argentina up to date with aerocommercial market regulation at regional and global levels.» The executive also clarified that the two A320s will come through the rehabilitated possibility of interchange (meaning that the aircraft would keep its Chilean registration), and that in parallel they have already certified the A320neo in Argentina.
Franco Mogetta, Secretary of Transportation, said that «competition has provided passengers with better services at lower costs. We are showing that the conditions are in place and we want to return the business to the business owner, which is the private sector.»
Meanwhile, Federico Sturzenegger, Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, assured that «this growth does not cost the state a single peso.»
