Air New Zealand prepares to return to South Korea

A trade delegation led by Air New Zealand’s Chief Sales and Customer Officer Leanne Geraghty headed to South Korea to reveal details of the airline’s resumption of the Seoul-Incheon seasonal route.

Services between Auckland and Seoul-Incheon will resume on 28 October 2024 and end on 29 March 2025, with more than 130 flights between the two during this period. Air New Zealand competes in this segment with Korean Air, which offers year-round flights between South Korea and New Zealand.

«Seoul remains an important route for our cargo services. In the same period last year, we transported more than 2,000 tonnes of cargo between the cities, with fresh produce such as avocados, blueberries and lamb destined for Korea from New Zealand. We expect to see similar volumes of cargo transported between the cities this season,» said Leanne Geraghty, Chief Sales and Customer Officer at Air New Zealand.

  • Flight NZ 76: ICN 21:10 – AKL 12:25+1 Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

The route is operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with a capacity of 302 seats in three classes: 18 Business Class, 27 Premium Economy and 263 in Economy. The airline is offering promotional fares from USD 699 one way.

According to data compiled by AirPortal, 174,054 passengers and 9,731 tons of cargo were moved in 2023 between Auckland and Seoul-Incheon.

Korea is an important inbound tourism and trade market for Aotearoa. In the year ending June 2024, 70,000 arrivals were from Korea, making it the sixth largest visitor market. It is fantastic to see more air travel capacity this summer as it means more connecting opportunities between Korea and Aotearoa,” said Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand.

Air New Zealand has also increased seat capacity on a number of routes in Asia with the introduction of the Boeing 777-300ER to destinations including Taipei, Tokyo-Narita and Singapore. The carrier’s Asia-Pacific network also has services to Bali, Hong Kong and Shanghai-Pudong.
