Air Senegal has suspended seven routes in the United States, Europe and Africa as part of an operational restructuring of its network. These cuts will allow the airline to optimize its network and offer better service to customers.
As of September 19, service to New York-JFK (United States) is suspended, its only transatlantic route. As of September 20, operations to Milan-Malpensa (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), Douala (Cameroon), and Libreville (Gabon) cease. As of September 21, routes to Marseille and Lyon in France are suspended.
With the cessation of Air Senegal’s transatlantic operations, the only airline to have a non-stop connection between Senegal and the United States is Delta Air Lines, which has a service between New York-JFK and Dakar with three weekly flights on Boeing 767-300ERs. The airline will continue operating in the French market to Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
Air Senegal is the predecessor of Senegal Airlines, it started operations in May 2018, and its fleet consists of two Airbus A319, one A321, one A330-900neo, two ATR 72-600 and two Let L-410 in its main hub, located at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar.
