Air Serbia starts flights to Guangzhou, its second destination in China

Air Serbia is expanding its offering in Asia with the start of non-stop flights between Belgrade and Guangzhou, its second service in China after Tianjin. The inaugural flight ceremony was attended by Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesić and Air Serbia CEO Jiří Marek.

Flight JU 988 was operated on its Airbus A330 with Mihajlo Pupin livery registered as YU-ARC, which took off from Nikola Tesla Airport at 00:52 on 30 September and landed at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at 18:42, after eleven hours and 50 minutes.

Other airlines that also operate flights between Serbia and China are Hainan Airlines which has a service between Beijing Capital and Belgrade on Airbus A330-300 and China Southern operates between Guangzhou and the Serbian capital on Boeing 787-9.

We have gathered here today to celebrate a significant milestone in Air Serbia’s journey with the inauguration of our direct flight from Belgrade to Guangzhou, which marks our second direct route to the People’s Republic of China. This achievement underlines our unwavering commitment to strengthening connections between Serbia and China, through transport, business, tourism and promoting long-lasting cultural and diplomatic ties,” said Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.

Air Serbia flight schedule between Belgrade (BEG) and Guangzhou (CAN)

  • Flight JU 988: BEG 00:20 – CAN 17:10 Monday and Friday.
  • Flight JU 989: CAN 22:10 – BEG 04:45+1 Monday and Friday.

The route is operated on Airbus A330-200 aircraft. The goal of this service is to boost economic and cultural relations between China and Serbia
